Volunteers

CDA uses a small group of Volunteers, some Deaf and some hearing to support others. Tasks might include accompanying someone to hospital, doctors, shopping, simple form filling, letter writing, transport to and from all 3 local social clubs and sometimes just to keep in touch with very isolated people. All volunteers have some signing skills and tasks are matched according to signing ability. It is important for volunteers to have a knowledge of Deaf culture and current issues affecting the Deaf community. This work is monitored by the Development and Community Worker. Training may be offered where necessary.

Supporting Deaf People Project

This is aimed at D/deaf, Hard of Hearing, deafened, deaf/blind people living in Cambridgeshire, who without support, may not be able to manage living in their own home, but by receiving housing related support could do so.  They can also receive support if looking to find a new tenancy in their name or own their own home.  We can also provide support in budgeting, developing life skills, accessing other services such as training and employment, reading letters and arranging repairs.  And many more - depending on your needs.  We can be contacted at any Drop In Session or you can make an appointment to see us at CDA Office or in your own home.
